bwone.com twitter.com Now that we have the Sony Internet TV Player unboxing out of the way, its now time to do a quick tour around the hardware of the Sony Internet TV Player.... with Google TV of course! Hardware The unit is built with the usually high quality that Sony is known for and its actually a bit heavier that it looks but that's due to the Blu-Ray player that comes with the unit. The casing is made of all plastic that is white with a black top that looks to be a fingerprint and dust magnet. On the front is what you usually see with anything that has a disc player in it with a slot loading disc loader, power button, eject button, connect button to connect the remote and USB port to plug in devices you want to use with the player to watch media. There is nothing on either of the sides on the player but on the back is where are port fun begins with the IR Blaster port, HDMI in, Digital Out Optical, HDMI Out, LAN, fan exhaust, 3 USB ports and DC in jack for your power. Plenty of ports for modern TVs and HDMI only so no component, composite or S-Video available but why would you want that with HD as the main focus here. Internally the unit is powered by an Intel processor and comes with 8GB of storage inside and Built-in Wi-Fi with wireless N for the highest wireless bandwidth for streaming content and of course the hardware is ran but the Google TV Software inside which we will get to in another video post. You get a 4 inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 640 x 360 that give you a sharp and vivid display. An 8 megapixel rear facing camera which we will get into more detail later on and a front facing VGA camera. What's nice about the E7 is that it keeps a nice sleek and not to bulky profile while still packing a full four row QWERTY keyboard They keyboard is wonderful to use as keys are spaced out nicely and each individual key responsive solid when pressed down. The HDMI port is something we see common in high-end phones but Nokia was gracious enough to include the HDMI cable needed to connect it to your HDTV which puts the phone in mirrored mode which we showed in the video review. Internally you get Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, 1200 mAH battery and 16 GB of internal storage. There is no micro SD card slot as Nokia is pushing their cloud services to store your content if you need more space. This is also Google's debut of their tablet centric OS Android 3.0. With all the hype and expectations does the Motorola XOOM live up? Hardware & Design From our unboxing & first impressions to now our opinion is still the same on the hardware it is powerful and slick. Using very few button gives it a sleek and minimalistic look. The tablet has some weight to it but its spread out evenly and gives it a solid feel. The dual core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor makes the device fast and very responsive. The 10.1 screen with 1200 x 800 resolution makes images and video look sharp and clear. You have a 2 megapixel front facing camera and a 5 megapixel rear camera that shoots 720p and we get into more details below when we talk about the camera app. Audio sounded excellent through the headphones however the external speakers were ok but nothing spectacular. The were clear but got a bit distorted if turned up all the way. Battery life is going to run you between 6 - 8 hours doing a bit of everything from gaming, browsing and watching videos. Some disappointing things here are the lack of 4G LTE at launch. With it the price that it currently it should have been available at launch or the tablet should be discounted down for early adopter or even a few few months of 4G service when available but Verizon should do something ...
